Google Wave + D&D = Do Want

I want a Google Wave invite. Badly. Why? I haven’t the slightest idea. I only half know what it does, and just want to be in so I can learn exactly how it can help what I do. As someone who sends dozens of emails a day I have to think it will help, but according to ArsTechnica, there are some other uses too. Apparently it can be used for Dungeons & Dragons, pushing my wants from “hey, I’d like to have this” to serious “do want” levels of excitement.
It’s really not much more than using it like a chat room (mixed with a MUD and a Wiki), but the persistence and ease of navigation (as well as the playback tools) make it really interesting for D&D. Apparently, at least at this point, Mouse Guard currently is taking over the Wave. This is great, since it’s a fairly hard game to just pick-up and play, so joining a game in progress might help. It’s still in the early stages, and some tools don’t simply exist yet, but damn does it look like it can help the tabletop experience leap online. Again, Wizards of the Coast, are you listening? How’s Game Table going?
You can check out the full article to see how they do it, and I’ll be sitting here trying to figure out a way to break into Google Labs.

I’ve been watching Wave, too, and I’ll have to agree with you. The premise behind playing DnD online with friends across the country is luring me in more than anything.
