Premade Campaign 06: The Giant’s Revenge (2/2)

The Giant’s Revenge is intended for Paragon level characters and is Part Two in a Two Part series.

After the party has defeated the Ettin Marauders and freed the Hill Giants it would appear their problems are over, but this couldn’t be farther from the truth. No matter how careful the party was in their actions, other giants in the area heard on the intervention in what they considered to be an affair amongst Giants and have marched on the player’s home city, destroying buildings and killing civilians. Upon their return the people are none too happy to see the party, blaming them for the attack because, after all, they were warned not to intervene. To clear their name and hope to return again, the party must avenge the deaths of their fellow citizens and find out who was behind the attacks.

There are a few ways to take this campaign, depending on your player’s reaction to the news.

1. If they seem filled with regret, a campaign of redemption is necessary. Finding ways to revive their fallen friends and rebuilding the town can become the goal, while defending against further attacks. Eventually the attacks will get larger, leading for the party to need to travel outside the city to put an end to it, leading to…

2. However, if revenge is burning in their eyes than it may be time to strike back. Some of the Giants left markings of their tribes, and the party can hunt them down and make them pay. While this may not seem to be the righteous path, a little blood spilt in the name of vengeance can lead to a fun plot, and give the players a chance to work out some anger.

3. Either way, your players will want to know how they were found out and take revenge on whatever brought the Giants to their doorstep. It turns out a few members of the town guard, filled with hatred for the party after seeing their success, and has let some of the nearby tribes in on the information. Bringing these people to justice can ease the party’s regrets if they seem upset about the outcome, leading to a happy ending – at least for them.

If the players seem to enjoy killing Giants, there are plenty of fun battles to be had here. The rebuilding process can also be enjoyable, depending on the player’s personalities. Let me know if you try this campaign out, and come back tomorrow for another Heroic level premade campaign!
